Patti Percopo

Assistant Manager – Clearview Group Home

Patti Percopo, Assistant Manager at the Clearview Group is the SCARC Employee of the Month for January 2009. Patti resides in Sussex, NJ and has been employed by SCARC for 4 ½ years.

Patti demonstrates a great attitude that nothing is too hard and she never says no. When an individual at the group home had to have a very involved procedure, Patti arranged everything and followed the directions to a “T”! She even arranged a respite, transportation, getting the group home staff on board. Patti also kept the individual calm, cool and collected.

Patti has also worked very hard to support another individual’s psychological needs. She attends all psychiatric appointments, gives clear cut information on the home situation and is very knowledgeable in the use of his medication. This individual is fragile medically and Patti has great knowledge about his needs and communicates these needs to the appropriate people.

Patti steps up to the plate whenever needed. Recently Patti served as the Acting Manager while the Manager was out on maternity leave. Patti has come in during inclement weather to make sure the home is stable and has stayed late when necessary without complaint. Patti would make a difference in any group home where she works.

Great Job Patti!!

October 2008
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Elaine Predmore
Residential Manager – Lafayette Group Home

Elaine Predmore is the SCARC Employee of the Month for October 2008. Elaine has been employed with SCARC since February 2002 and is currently the Manager at the Lafayette Group Home. Elaine resides in Milford, PA.

Elaine came up with the idea of Lafayette Group Home hosting our Just Us Kids for an Easter Egg Hunt as a way for the individuals at the house to have age appropriate fun, and a way for them to offer community inclusion for the kids. They “helped” our kids dye eggs, hunt for eggs, and a host of other activities. Then the group home provided lunch. Our Vernon and Sparta JUK programs attended. Elaine was so pleased with how well it went, she planned a summer picnic.

At the picnic, the group home individuals and kids from all three of our JUK’s Sparta, Newton, and Vernon participated together in water gun battles, water balloon toss, parachute play, sidewalk chalk drawings, and softball. There were Frisbees and beach balls all over the yard engaging the children in a day of great fun. Once again, they provided a wonderful picnic lunch, and handed out goodie bags to all the children at the end of the day. All the staff, individuals, and children had a wonderful time. While we were out in the yard playing softball, Elaine was already talking of next year’s summer picnic, to be Christmas in July.

Elaine is also planning a Halloween Party to be held this month. She has plans for scarecrow building, a pumpkin patch, hunt for candy in the hay, a sensory activity were the children will feel different items (cold spaghetti, jello…) related to a Halloween theme, in addition to other activities.

Her enthusiasm doesn’t end, she enjoys creating a day that makes the individuals smile, to have fun and enjoy the company of others in a way that hasn’t happened before. Elaine believes strongly in giving individuals the opportunity to enjoy life, and the simple pleasures we sometimes take for granted, even if it means volunteering her time to do it, which she does with a huge smile and a laugh that is contagious. A lot of work goes into the planning, preparation, and carry-out of the activities. Elaine does it all with a smile because it means so much for the individuals, it’s not even a requirement of her job.

Thanks for all you do Elaine!
