SCARC, Inc ANNOUNCES 2009 WALKATHON EVENT
Augusta - Douglas White, president of the SCARC board of trustees announces that SCARC’s 7th Annual Walkathon event will be held at the Sussex County Fairgrounds on Sunday, May 17, 2009. The event will begin at 1 PM and the walk will take place around the perimeter of the fairgrounds.
Linda Grinthal, walkathon coordinator, indicates that the event will involve over 500 walkers and volunteers who will support SCARC services with pledges and donations.
This year’s sponsors include: District 1 Masonic Lodges, American Wholesale Service, MasterfoodsUSA, Hinkle, Fingles & Prior, Weis Supermarkets, Battista Plumbing & Heating, Layton Construction, Franklin Mutual Insurance, and CNC Computer Services.
Ms. Grinthal indicates that SCARC has received support from Vernon Schools, Sparta Evangelical Free Church youth group, Tri-Co Credit Union, Lafayette Federated Church, Boy Scout Troop 85, Kathy Brockbrader’s Petting Zoo, and Eileen Gantz of Destination Country who will be teaching square dancing.
The country hoedown theme will involve games, activities, and festivities for the whole family. The Masonic Lodge members will be cooking hot dogs and distributing food and snacks.
