For children and youth, SCARC provides respite and recreation services designed to provide a break from caregiving for families and provide age-appropriate leisure activities for participants. SCARC supports families of individuals with developmental disabilities under the age of 21 through the following services:

Department of Children and Families (DCF)

SCARC provides two DCF approved services to families of children under 21:

Services for children under the age of 21 are primarily funded by the Department of Children and Families through PerformCare New Jersey. PerformCare provides a single point of entry for developmental disability services with 24 hour, 7 day a week access.

Eligibility for children under 18

Determined by PerformCare. An online application is available here. SCARC staff will assist with applications if needed. Please call 973-383-7442 and tell our receptionist that you need assistance with intake.

Eligibility for youth over 18

Determined by Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). They can be reached at 1-800-832-9173 or at their website.

Summer Experience

SCARC offers three sessions of this two week summer program each summer. The program is open to youth aged 15 to 21.
